So, we started recording vocals last week and we are very excited to get things moving! One song down and a lot more to go! We can't wait for this record to come out, so we can share what we have been working so hard on. Here are a few pics from our session!

Another Song Written

We had another successful skype writing session with Jillian this evening. One more song is done! Hooray! Our CD is almost completely written, and things are moving along nicely. We will be setting up some shows very soon!

Good news, folks.

Last night was our first practice with bass player extraordinaire, Aaron Bishop. Once again, we sound like a band, which is exciting and inspiring. Aaron does this thing where he learns songs after playing them twice. Personally I think it's some kind of voodoo or mind control, but I'm into it. While the album is going to release later than expected, it's going to sound better than we anticipated... and we anticipated it changing lives. We are humble.

Tracking Drums

Aaaaaaaaaaand we're off!

Last night we tracked drums for two songs. Dreux has a cold, but he still performed amazingly. It's always easier to record drums when your drummer is good.

We plan on knocking out most of the guitars over the weekend.

Tonight we are officially cutting the ribbon; the first tracks to our new album are going to be recorded. To celebrate, I will give you a few details about the upcoming album, scheduled to release this coming March.

It will be a story-based concept album.
You may never be the same after hearing it.
It will probably change the world.

While Matt and Lucy have moved back to New Zealand, they are still going to have a massive presence in the recording. We are, however, in need of a bass player for when we start playing shows to promote the CD release in March/April/May. Please contact us if you are interested!

This journal is dedicated towards documenting the entire process of recording The Slater Sisters upcoming album. We've decided to expedite the process of making albums by doing the production ourselves. We've purchased our own gear and have a very strict schedule that, if followed, will enable us to have an new album out in March. While a new DIY recordings may carry with it an amateur connotation, I can assure you that this will be an improvement to our sound. Our most recent recording, "Walk On" was our first attempt to record on our own. We hit a few minor snags while setting up recording gear at our rehearsal space in Woodland Hills, CA. Matt's golden ears turned the song into something we're all very proud of, and is seamless in comparison the the quality of recording we got out of the Los Angeles Recording School for our EP No More I'm Sorry.

Our new music has been a pleasure to write thus far, and is a fantastic example of a collaboration; every member of the band has played a large role in writing our new material. Now, with the extra control we have over the recording process, I expect we will unleash our full potential.

I tend to sound a little too business while blogging at work... my point to all the junk above is that I'm super stoked my broskies!
